Lance Parmer is a shareholder with the firm. Lance regularly represents employers in labor relations matters and defends employers in employment litigation in both state and federal courts. Lance also counsels and educates employers on all employment-related topics.
Lance has successfully represented employers in numerous states in labor relations matters, including union contract negotiations, labor arbitrations, and union organizing and decertification campaigns. Lance also litigates employment claims brought under state and federal employment laws, including claims brought under the ADA, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, OSHA, and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.
Lance is an active member of the Birmingham Bar Association and was selected to be a member of the 2018 class of the BBA’s Future Leaders Forum. Lance was named a “Rising Star” and a “Top Attorney” in Civil Litigation by Birmingham Magazine in 2019. Lance was named “Top Attorney” in Employment Law by Birmingham Magazine in 2020. In 2020, he was recognized in the 27th Edition of The Best Lawyers in America and the Inaugural Edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch for his work in labor and employment law. Lance was also recognized by Best Lawyers in 2021 and 2022. Lance was selected as a Mid-South Rising Star by Super Lawyers in 2020 and 2021. In 2021, Lance was also recognized by the Birmingham Business Journal as a “NextGen: Law” honoree. NextGen honorees were chosen based on their contributions to their firms and their potential to shape the industry, and Birmingham’s legal world, moving forward.
Originally from LaGrange, Georgia, Lance received his law degree and graduated with honors from Cumberland School of Law in 2013. While at Cumberland, Lance was editor of the Cumberland Law Review and was selected to serve on the Career Development Advisory Board. Lance was also elected by his peers to serve on the Cumberland Honor Court. Lance received the “Scholar of Merit” recognition and earned a merit-based scholarship.
Prior to law school, Lance graduated with honors from Auburn University, where he received a B.S. in Political Science and minored in History. In his spare time, Lance enjoys running, hunting, playing golf, and spending time with his wife and three daughters.
