A twenty-nine year veteran of the Occupational Safety
and Health Administration, John Hall was involved in training and
compliance programs, investigations, and enforcement actions. John's positions included: Area Director,
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (1991-2001); Safety
Team Supervisor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (1985-1991);
District Office Supervisor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration
(1983-1985, Mobile, AL); Safety Team Supervisor, Occupational Safety
and Health Administration (1980-1982, Mobile, AL); Compliance Safety
and Health Officer, Occupational Safety and Health Administration
(1972-1980), Birmingham, Atlanta and Mobile Area Offices.
As Area Director, John Hall directed a staff of
safety engineers/specialists and industrial hygienists in administering
the Occupational Safety and Health Act for the employers of North
Alabama. He provided policy and technical guidance for conducting
workplace safety and health inspections and applying OSHA standards.
He was responsible for the final review and approval of enforcement
actions, and promoted workplace safety and health through outreach
activities within the office's jurisdiction.
Mr. Hall received his B.A. from the University of
Alabama and prior to joining the Occupational Safety and Health Administration
in 1968 taught math, science and special education.
